Zola 8-3 Tutoring
Yesterday morning I met with Je Ah again. While we had been working on the past tenses earlier this week, I had put an irregular verb in there just to see if she was familiar, and since she was not, I decided that that could be the next lesson.
I made a list of high-frequency irregular verbs, with an example sentence for each one. After discussing these, I had her do some highly-controlled practice, in the form of filling in the blank in a sentence that was missing its verb.
After a bit, I tried to move towards giving less linguistic support, and having her construct sentences. She was clearly uncomfortable with this, as her grammar ability seems to outpace her vocabulary knowledge at the moment. When we meet next, my plan is to have a lesson focused around vocabulary relating to a certain theme, to hopefully facilitate sentence construction around a specific theme.
