Zola 8-15 Tutoring

Yesterday I met with Je Ah. I began the lesson by going over the first two future tenses: the future simple and the future continuous. I began by saying in what contexts a tense could be used; for example, the future simple tense can be used when making a prediction. Following that, I introduced a few example sentences I had created.

After showing the example sentences, I had Je Ah conjugate some verbs in the tense. Finally, I had her practice making her own original sentences. What I've found with Je Ah is that if I say "Please make a sentence in x tense", it makes her nervous and she shuts down. But if I phrase the request as a more conversational question, she is willing to try. For example, I asked her to tell me in the future simple tense what the would be doing tomorrow, and she correctly said "I will watch baseball tomorrow." This teaching breakthrough will definitely help me out in the future.
