John TS 14-15
Date/Time: August 20th Sunday 2:30pm-4:30pm.
Tuttee: Ye-Won.
Location: Hecht House.
Topic/Skill: Reading and Speaking.
Feedback provided to tutee: I corrected my tutee’s reading speed and understanding of words that are used as a name in the story but has another meaning such as "Aurora". I also had the tuttee use more decoding skills to try and guess the pronunciation of long words such as "Maleficent". I alsohad the tuttee do activities that showed the importance of reacurring characters that are not shown in the illustrations but are mentioned in the text only.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: This lesson I unfortuantely forgot my prepared materials at home. I had the wonderful opportunity to use an early reader version of the story of Sleeping Beauty. I think the lesson overall went well and I may continue to use the book in the next session as the tuttee really liked the story and was engaged for the duration of the session. Even though I was unable to give the lesson I planned on giving, I can always do it next time and even then I think I was able to adpt well to the circumstances. When I teach there are inevitably times when things do not go as planned and I think this was a great opportunity to learn about thinking on my feet.
