Brieara TS #15
Date/Time: August 17th @12pm w/ YeonHee
Location: Smoothie Time
Topic: American Culture and Speaking
Summary: In this session, we had a short session where we watched a video called "American Culture You NEED To Know" (https://youtu.be/uCXjxMw9wak). It was a good video that introduced some new information for us to discuss about American culture. The topics included things such as, "more bang for your buck", "I plead the 5th", John Hancock, calling shotgun before getting in a car, take me out to the ballgame, Benjamins, and other unique things. She knew a few good ones, but we got to discuss some that she never heard of before like calling shotgun and the idiom "more bang for your buck". After our discussion, we decided to we will watch one last American culture video for our next session then we will move on to more focused subjects.
Lessons Learned: Today, I learned that there are many idioms that I have forgotten about but are still important to knowing in America. Some of these may be used infrequently, but it is very beneficial to be able to use the right phrase at the right time.
