Date/Time: August 10th @1:30pm w/ YeonHee

Location: Online

Topic: Idioms

Summary: In this session, we watched an episode of Jerry Springer to watch a more natural flow of conversation and catch on to subtle idioms. Some of the ones I took note of for her were: bury the hatchet, get if off (his/her/my) chest, and backstabber. These were good because the idioms were revolving a situation where the antagonist felt guilty for his actions and wanted the innocent person to forgive him. These idioms applied very well to this situation and they were a good use of vocabulary/idioms-in-context vs. just teaching them randomly. It was a little bit of a longer video so I made sure to stop it so often and make sure she was good with the dialogue participants had accents that were even a little bit difficult for me to understand. She enjoyed the video and was able to watch a different style of conversation that was more intense and fast-paced.

Lessons Learned: It is not ideal to tutor someone online but it is not impossible! We made it work for today and utilizing the resources on the Internet helped a lot to make the session run smoother. I will try incorporating more resources from online for future lessons.
