Topic/Skill: We briefly discussed what we did the last week and then spent time reviewing definite and indefinite articles. I had to slow down during some sections, which I'll keep in mind for future sessions. I had him do a short review activity, where he filled in the blanks using a couple paragraphs from a news article I found online. There were a couple sections that gave him trouble (including a more complex sentence that he didn't understand, and had to guess), but otherwise, was correct 80% of the time.
We also did an vocab matching activity related to an article about how cultural differences in communication can cause conflict between people. There were 3 idioms in the list, but he guessed them all correctly. I then had him read the article himself, and asked whether he had any questions. The article was C2 level and he didn't have many issues, even if his reading was a bit slow. We discussed parts of he article and our experiences in the States vs South Korea, which was interesting.
I was going to have him fill out multiple choice reading comprehension questions, but we ran out of time, so he will do them this week and we will review them next session. I also recommended he spend 15 minutes a day writing English in a journal about any topic. I noticed he sometimes gets caught up in having perfect grammar when writing English, so I hope this will help him become faster and more automatic with communicating his thoughts.
