Topic/Skill: I tried to go over a warm-up activity using American memes, but I don't know if the humor resonated with him. I thought it was worth a shot though, as I find trying to read memes in other languages (Spanish/Korean) rather fun. Afterwards, we read a short article about videogames together (after going over some vocab). I found the whole thing much easier than past sessions because I got Google Meet to work this time, so I could share my screen, highlight text, and look up definitions for him to see more quickly. This also means I can share audio and video with him much more easily. The comprehension questions were more rough than I expected. He says he understands, but when actually tested on it, he struggles. I'm going to steer away from text-heavy activities, implement more visuals, interactive-ness, and see if I can find more ways to lower his affective filter.

What I learned: I think I need to adapt better to Jewon's interests and needs as a learner, but it's difficult to know what to do when he's so shy about speaking up. I'll try to reassure him about his speech next class, because his pronunciation is very comprehensible.
