Topic/Skill: We went over some common English reduced forms, including having him create sentences with them. I tried to explain that reduced forms are different from contractions in that they aren't considered "real" words, like gonna and wassup vs haven't, I'll, won't, etc. It didn't take too long and we'll probably go over more next week. Afterwards, we went over some vocabulary and read an article about how the Paris Government is planning to use AI surveillance during the 2024 Olympics. He seemed familiar with most words except for some idioms (like "the edge of the wedge") and pop culture references (like "Big Brother"). Afterwards, we discussed it, our opinions on AI surveillance and whether it's ethical, cultural differences between S. Korea and the U.S. that would effect how people respond to it, and even the relationship between S. Korea and China (it was briefly mentioned in the article).

What I learned: It was interesting going over the article together and I think I've been doing ok with trying to create as much interaction as possible during the hour we talk (it would be pointless to use a lecture-heavy format). He gave me a journal entry this week that I'll go over for him.
